Katrina and Bessie are gonna take a stab at giving you an idea of what Alienation does to a child from the beginning back in the late 1940's and travel the road for 61 years. Bessie is a firm believer in experience being the best teacher, and even though she would not wish these life experiences on anyone,Bessie Always states..."I do believe that my experiences have made me who I am". I have also come to the conculsion that if your life feels like a bushel and a peck of lemons, you should take those sour lemons and make lemonade. My lemonade will be to open up my life long experiences and share things that I pray will lead to helping those that struggle trying to understand. My Mother and I shared a bond that would bring us together in her last years. We never lived together when I was a child, thus she never had a say in my raising, but the love we shared while living through all the alienation and the bond she was able to implement in my first 2 years of life was strong enough to bring us together before she was gone. I THANK GOD ALMIGHTY FOR THOSE 12 YEARS. So many times while we struggle to get through our lives, we don't have a clue where some of our thoughts and beliefs come from. In my case it was a bond that my Mother gave the both of us before I was taken from her. I wasn't taken by CPS or a jealous ex...my mother and I went separated by her second husband and his mother...as well as her very own mother. My Dad decided before I was born that he didn't want to be with us, in the middle of a hard winter in 1948 he kissed my mother good bye and left for work...never to be heard from again. I also want to speak about how we as Targeted Parents- tend to read "too much" negative into the message. After reading letter or having the conversation, we think, "It sounds as though it came from a well adjusted, or normally raised child would send to us....but is it real?" We find ourselves wondering if there is ulterior motive in the messages we do get. confused. 'This is not right...my child was or is so messed up from PA, there has to be something wrong in this letter or a catch to it!' There is much to learn by all of us during PA, and it breaks my heart to see so many parents that are very unsure how to take a simple letter written to us, or conversation, that is quite normal and age appropriate and yet we become paranoid about it. These children, our children, are half of us, and they do have traits we have instilled in them at one time or another. Not everything the PA kids say or do is a result from PA. That is where we as Targeted Parents need to become very educated and be able to distinguish between PA behavior and Normal behavior. We need to remember our Parenting 101!
