Haskell recently gave a witness impact statement in the case and said during Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab's sentencing hearing,
"I will just say that regardless of how the media and government try to shape the public perception of this case, I am convinced that Umar was given an intentionally defective bomb by a U.S. Government agent and placed on our flight without showing a passport or going through security, to stage a false terrorist attack to be used to implement various government policies." - Kurt Haskell.

Dr. Donald Wright, author of "The Only Prayer Iâ??ll Ever Pray: Let My People Go" joins me tonight. The book issues a call for blacks in America to critically examine their loyalty and dedication to religion and adapt a lifestyle centered on rational thinking. Mr. Wright believes it is time to break the chains of mental bondage caused by religious dogma.

To encourage fellowship and community service among Black non-believers, Mr. Wright and others have decided to have a day of solidarity for Black non-believers. We will discuss this and more on Black Talk Radio News tonight.

Tonight I am joined by Speech mostly known for his founding of the conscious hip-hop group Arrested Development. Arrested Development had a big hit with the single Tenneesee, which Speech wrote. The song won the Grammy Award for Best Rap Performance by a Duo or Group in 1993. We will discuss why he has become disillusioned with politics in general but which politician gives him some measure of hope for change. Can't talk to a Grammy Winner without checking out some of his new music!

A new drug law has been signed by President Obama. The Ultralight Aircraft Smuggling Prevention Act of 2012 closes a loophole that treated the use of ultralight aircraft to help with drug smuggling different from the use of other aircraft. Now, their use can bring a long jail sentence and stiff fines. Tonight I am joined by Leonard Frieling of Law Enforcement Against Prohibtion. Mr. Frieling says "If the government stopped creating and supporting the artificially high street price of illegal drugs, the drug-associated crime would disappear."

Black activist and community organizer says the organization GLADD is a predominantly White organization that may want to consider changing their name to the GLKKK. The group is behind a push to get CNN to fire black commentator Roland Martin.

Cleo Manago says he continues to find many of their (GLADD) actions and reactions "Blackophobic" in nature. This new scenario targeting Roland S. Martin is just another case in point!

Mr. Manago will be calling us live from an emergency meeting called by Black Menâ??s Xchange (BMX) in New York on the issue as a result of CNN suspending Roland Martin over tweets he made in reference to an underwear ad that played during the Super Bowl.

Cleo Manago is founder and national organizer of the Black Menâ??s Xchange (BMX), the nationâ??s oldest and largest community-based movement for same gender loving (SGL), gay-identifying and bisexual African-descended males and allies.

Last night we discussed the ethnic cleansing of Black Libyans by rebels who participated in the overthrow of Libya's recognized government headed by Mommar Ghadafi.

Mr. T. West of Afrisynergy will be on Black Talk Radio News to discuss the racism within the ranks of the so-called new Libyan government and the atrocities being committed against Black people in Libya.

"There has been an uncivil war going on in the Black community between Rev. Al Sharpton, reppinâ?? the old school Civil Rights crew, and the intellectual tag team of Dr. Cornel West and Tavis Smiley. They have traded disses back and forth like a â??Freestyle Fridayâ?? battle over who is the legitimate leader of the masses of Black folk.
Was Roland Martin discriminated against by CNN? When you look at two recent cases involving offensive statements made by other CNN contributor, there is one glaring difference. What does the NABJ stand for if not advocating for its members?

In a statement publish on the National Association of Black Journalists website specifically addressing Martinâ??s suspension; the NABJ seemed to take a neutral stand. The statement which totals only 80 words reads,

"This is a teachable moment for all journalists. We are reminded that what we communicate in print and broadcast - and now through social media - has considerable power. NABJ does not support any commentary in any medium that is insensitive or offensive.

Mr. Martin is one of our most committed members. In lieu of his presence on CNN, until this matter is resolved, we encourage the network to continue to present a diverse offering of voices in its programming."

Not one, but two Republicans are under investigation for voter fraud!
After Governor Jan Brewer of Arizona disrespects President Obama, an Arizona lawmaker thinks proposes a "white appreciation day".
President Obama's re-election team launches "African-Americans for Obama" in recognition of Black History month and touts what the administration has done for the "African-American community. Is it enough and should Republicans use the occasion to reach out to Black voters?
Is the label "African-American" still politically correct? Some members of the Black community say no!

Vincent Smothers, a convicted former Detroit hitman has once again come forward to the public to clear the name of Devontae Sanford. Devontae Sandford, a young man with a sever mental impairment, confessed to killing 4 people who were brutally murdered in Detroit. Vincent Smothers gave an interview on January 30, 2012 to Associated Press writer Ed White in which he confessed to being gulity of the four murders for which Devontae was convicted. This is not the first time Smothers has confessed but it is the first time that he has been willing to take the stand and testify that "There is no link between him and Devontae whom he has never known and that Devontae had nothing to do with the murders. I spoke by phone today to Ms. Taminko Sanford, Devontae's mother who has remained steadfast in fighting for her son's freedom.

Keith King joins us on Black Talk Radio News again to discuss the latest news pertaining to the Drug War/Policy. Keith is a retired United States Coast Guard Commander and resides in Kailua-Kona, HI.
He was in law enforcement for 37 years and got his start before the war on drugs began. He served in the United States Coast Guard for 24 years in various capacities including as a watch officer in Miami and at Coast Guard headquarters in Washington, DC, retiring as commander. He also provided 13 years of service to the state of Hawaii, both in the judiciary and the enforcement branch of the Department of Land and Natural Resources.
Like other members of LEAP, Keith says, â??What we are doing is not working,â?? and â??Weâ??ve literally handed over control of the drug trade to cartels and organized crime".

Early in his career, Neill served as a narcotics agent with the Maryland State police, focusing on everything from high-level drug dealers in the Washington suburbs to the guy growing one marijuana plant on his balcony.

We'll find out what Mr. Franklin has coming up in the next few weeks and review some the Drug War/Policy news that occurred over the week.

Today the UN General Assembly remembered the Jewish victims of the Holocaust. Turkey, a Muslim nation also observed the day along with many, many other nations. However, lost in all this remembrance is the 9 million non-Jews who perished under the Nazi regime. How do you corner the market on genocide?

And considering that every year the Holocaust is remembered in Israel, how is it that the citizens of Israel and Jews in the Diaspora allow Israel to sow seeds of so much hate by its treatment of the Palestinians and Ethiopian Jews. And how is it that Jews in America who participated in the slave trade of Africans and eugenics program in America that the Nazis themselves said inspired their policies. The Jews of conscious, who do speak up or out on this hypocrisy, are often marginalized and called self hating Jews. Tonight we focus on all the victims of genocide and those who have suffered under the banner of White Supremacy.

Andrew Adler, a Jewish publisher based in Atlanta caused an uproar last week that continues as news spreads on the Internet about his editorial piece in which he called on the Israelis to assassinate President Obama. In his opinion piece he asserted that President Obama is unfriendly to Israel. While most commentary has focused on questions about the vitriol towards President Obama in Jewish political circles, whether or not he is a Muslim who hates Israel and wants to see its Jewish character erased, not many are asking the central national security question about if Israeli Mossad agents are based in the United States and what they are doing.

More hateful comments from members of the GOP and conservative right in the wake of Jewish paper's call for assassination of President Obama. Jewish publisher reveals possibility and likelyhood of Israeli security threats on U.S. soil.

Fox News publishes opinion peice written by a "psychologist" who drones on about how Newt Gingrinch's infidelities are postive attributes and would make him a good president.

Joe Klein blasts Rick Santorum for entertaining religious bigotry and racist comments from a woman in South Carolina. Says Santorum failed to correct the woman when she called Obama a secret Muslim not elgible to be President.

oin me for some commentary and a fast hard hitting look at some of the top news stories of the day.
North Carolina
North Carolina still trying to figure out how to compensate victims of its sterilization/extermination program that started in the 1920s up until the 1970s.
South Carolina
Newt "Doughbough" Gingrinch upset about being asked about his "open marriage" question and tries to turn the tables on the media. Is Mr. Moral Majority a hypocrite? Is character no longer a question for the family values crowd in South Carolina?
Texas
Supreme Court hears a case on Texas voter redistricting? Should Blacks and other "minorities" join the Republican party to combat voter disenfranchisement when it comes to voter redistricting?

Clifford W. Thornton, Jr., 62, is a Co-Chair of the Green Party of the United States. Thornton, an international expert on drug policy, is a retired African-American businessman who ran for Governor of Connecticut on the Green Party line in 2006. In the last three years he has spoken to over 200,000 people on drug reform in some 450 venues all over the US, Columbia, Canada, Europe, and New Zealand.

Thornton encourages citizens to re-examine drug policy, challenges the mentality of the drug war, and promotes open discussion of alternatives and public-health awareness. Marijuana policy reform is at the core of most of his presentations. Although he speaks about the need to change the laws regarding all drugs, a large portion of each presentation is devoted toward the reasons to end marijuana prohibition. He believes that marijuana law reform is the key to all drug policy reform. In 1995, Thornton founded Efficacy, a non-profit to educate the world about drug policy reform.
A few black writers have acknowledged the imperialist policies of the US that continue under the Obama administration but they fail to offer any meaningful solutions. Have black people as a collective sold their souls in the hopes of gainful employment and have cease to be the moral voices agianst injustice committed against the world and right here at home. Many of the loud voices of dissent during the Bush Regime have fell deafly silent as Bush ara policies are continued under the former community organizer from Chicago.
The Eurpoean Union is taking steps to help the U.S.A to impose tougher sanctions on Iran. Where have we seen this before?

Michael Kahoe served as a special agent for the FBI for 27 years. After graduating law school, he was hired as an agent and spent many years on the street investigating organized crime and public corruption and hunting down fugitives in cities including Atlanta, Cleveland, Gary, and New Orleans. He was eventually promoted to FBI headquarters as director of the FBIâ??s Violent Crimes and Major Offenders Section. In 1997, he retired as the special agent in charge of the FBI office in Jacksonville, Florida. â??The heightened risk to law enforcement in a society that so severely outlaws drugs is huge,â?? he says. â??The risk is further exacerbated by the inherently violent nature of the illicit drug market and the virtually unlimited amounts of money available to drug dealers, allowing them access to more sophisticated weapons and qualified people to use them.â??

Has President Obama given Al-Qeada its final victory? If you believe President Bush then the answer has to be yes.
Ron Paul still being questioned about his views on the Civil Rights Act of 1964 by the national media. Has the landmark Civil Rights legislation really protected Black people, religious minorities and women from discrimination?
Is the national sports media snubbing Black QB phenom Cam Newton after his record setting performance on Sunday against the New Orleans Saints? Does Tebow deserve all the media hype he is getting?

As Commander of the Bureau of Special Investigations at one point, the Administrative Narcotics Division was one of the divisions within his scope of authority. His vast experience in law enforcement has led him to the conclusion that the War on Drugs can never be worth the human and fiscal costs.

Joing me tonight by way of Law Enforcement Against Prohibtion is James Gray.

Judge James Gray authored Why Our Drug Laws Have Failed And What We Can Do About It: A Judicial Indictment of the War on Drugs. It was the culmination of his experience as a former federal prosecutor, defense attorney and trial judge. Those experiences convinced him that our nation's program of drug prohibition was not simply a failure, but a hopeless failure.

He was the youngest delegate elected to write Illinois' Constitution in 1970, a former candidate for Cook County State's Attorney and Illinois governor, raising drug policy and prison issues.
We reported last week that a bill has worked its way through the U.S. Senate that would give the U.S military the power to detain American citizens without due process and access to the courts and they could hold citizens indefinitely. President Obama is on record saying he would veto the bill but that may be unlikely since his administration asked that citizens not be exempted according to Senator Carl Levin (D) Mich.

It seems like the administration of President Obama is self destructing from self inflicted wounds. Has there ever been an administration that has angered its base more? Herman Cain, who recently ended his run for the GOP nomination, appeared on Black Entertainment Television last night. That appearance has lead some Black people to proclaim, "he really is one of us!".

We will be speaking with Dr. Michael Gilbert who has over 20 years of experience working in corrections and criminal justice as a manager, trainer, consultant, and researcher. That experience tells him, "Prohibition makes no sense as a drug-control policy."
While working in the penal system, Mike met many drug offenders who appeared to have led lives otherwise unblemished by crime. He began to see the harms caused by drug prohibition in a human context. He also encountered an increasing number of law-enforcement, judicial, and corrections officials who privately questioned the prohibition policies they were assigned to enforce. These "drug-warriors" doubted the foundations of the "War on Drugs," as well its effectiveness, morality, and ethics. You can read more about him at http://www.leap.cc/author/Michael/

Timothy writes, "the most despicable and damaging piece of legislation ever passed was passed in the Senate late last night without hardly a whimper in the morning from the American mainstream press. Under the cover of darkness, the United States Senate virtually declared war on the people of this nation by passing the darkest piece of legislation ever passed in America.

Despite the Black unemployment rate which continues to be high and always has been and will be in the foreseeable future because of policies continued by the nation's first Black President that negatively impact Black people, despite high incarceration rates, despite higher than average foreclosure rates, most Black people will not hesitate to vote for Obama again without ever looking at another possible candidate. Some respected people in the anti-white supremacy community believe that Obama can do nothing to stop these polices or make life better for black people because white people won't let him and if he did he would be killed or his family would be harmed. If true, does that make Obama a coward?

â??The â??War on Drugsâ?? is a disaster
for law enforcement.â?? - Tony Ryan

Tony Ryan sacrificed to protect and to serve. In his more than 36 years of continuous service as a Denver police officer, he endured getting stabbed in the hand and in the back, broken
bones in a hand and a foot, a head wound requiring 18 stitches, and a gunshot wound to the chest. He took all of this willingly, though, believing the work he did to be honorable. However,
one part of policing under our current system that he feels dishonors the Thin Blue Line is the â??War on Drugs,â?? which he labels â??a total failure costing billions of dollars while making the problem worse and enriching drug dealers.â?? What he finds perhaps even more distressing is what Americaâ??s failed
prohibitionist policy does to law enforcement itself. â??Drug-enforcement activities are one of the highest sources of complaints against law enforcement. [The â??War on Drugsâ??] costs officersâ?? lives and ruins careers through corruption and a myriad of other ills borne on drug-enforcement activity.â??

John Amabile has years of experience in the drug war, from the perspectives of a prosecutor, a public defender, and now a private attorney. He was an Assistant Attorney General from 1982-1986 in the criminal Bureau of the Massachusetts Attorney General's office. After trying hundreds of cases in the state and federally, as well as on the county level, he now advocates for drug legalization and sees LEAP as an effective vehicle to begin the process of ending the drug war by educating the public.

As co-founder of the Oklevueha Native American Church (ONAC), James Mooney has several roles through which he attempts to correct some of the damage the war on drugs has perpetrated upon American families. In addition to his role as an American Native Elder Seminole Medicine Man, James serves as the director of the recidivism reduction â??clergyâ?? program (Habilitative Programs) of ONAC.

In Jamesâ??s opinion, the war on drugs is presently the largest contributing factor to the disruption of the American family unit. James Mooney spent more than a decade in Utah State law enforcement and theState Department of Corrections, during which he was a zealous enforcer of the drug war.

Patrick Nightingale is a former prosecutor and practicing criminal defense attorney
in Pittsburgh, PA, and surrounding regions. Patrick spent six years with the
Allegheny County District Attorneyâ??s Office and was one of the founding members of the Domestic Violence Unit. Patrickâ??s tenure as a trial attorney brought him face to face with the casualties of the â??War on Drugsâ?? on a daily basis -- from the destitute addicts remanded to jail for one failed urine screen to the individuals driven to prostitution for the money for one hit of crack or a bag of heroin. And worst of all, he witnessed numerous young men engaged in a daily life-and-death struggle for the control of one city blockâ??s illicit drug market -- men who all too often received either a life sentence or a death sentence depending on who was holding the firearm.

The shooting death of 7-yr-old Aiyana Jones seems to have faded from some peopleâ??s memory but a new development in the case was announced earlier this month on October 4. In a press release, the Wayne County Prosecutorâ??s Office announced that two people had been indicted in the case where 7-yr-old Aiyana was shot through the head when Detroit Police raided her home searching for murder suspects. Black Talk Radio spoke to Pastor Omar Wilkes, a New York City activist who helped organize a group and protest in Detroit shortly after the death of Aiyana Jones to get his reaction to the indictment. Wilkes believes that the U.S. Justice Dept must investigate and that other officers were involved and should be charged.

Devontae Sanford plead guilty to the murders of 4 people in an alleged Detroit crackhouse, a crime for which a professed former Detroit hitman has admitted to commiting. Why did Devontae plead out if he did not do it? What is the current status of his attempts to get a new trial.

The international conflict in Libya just got a whole lot more complex as the Sudanese government is reportedly secretly providing use of its airspace to bomb Libya. Is this payback to Gaddafi who on argued for immunity on the African continent for Sudanese President Bashir who has been accused of committing war crimes in his country against rebels. Now one Sudanese official is claiming that Gaddafi was supplying the rebels of southern and other regions of Sudan in their war against Bashir's government.

Also throwing out the question on why Geroge Bush is so hated in the Black community when he provided 18 billion dollars to Africa to fight against HIV/AIDS. Most of Gaddafis US supporters cite money provided to other African countries by Gaddafi as the basis of their support and Gaddafi was allied with Bush so why the hypocrisy?

Labor battle taking shape in Ohio as Republicans move on a bill seen as hostile to unions. Join me for Black Talk Radio News, Views & Music for today's top stories.

President gave a speech to the American people saying that regime change is not the goal of the United States military action in Libya. Minister Louis Fharrakahn has said that the CIA is behind the uprising in defense of Libyan leader Gaddafi and heavily chatised President Obama's handling of the situation.

On the other hand Gaddafi has said that the West is not interested in seeing Libya fall into chaos and dismissed CIA plots against his government as being conspiracy fanaticism.

Black Talk Radio News, Views & Music is scheduled to talk to Mr. T West of Afrisynergy who issued a scathing rebuke of US agression against Gaddafi in a Youtube post. There are also some new developments in the case of Bobby Yates, a disabled Black man living in Texas who has been charged with felony sexual assualt on a child even though he lost his lower limbs and penis due to an hunting accident 20 years ago.

According to legal analyst, Lamar County Prosecutor Gary Young is not unlike many prosecutors in America who care more about padding their records with convictions than they care about actual justice. Further complicating the matter is that in many local governments, Prosecutors or District Attorneys clearly operate as political partisans when true justice is supposed to be blind and those ELECTED to postions in the justice system should be non-partisan. Prosecutor Gary Young, a Republican, clearly has a social agenda as evident in comments he made published in a Texas GOP Blog.

Fredrick Douglass was born a slave, educated himself, freed himself and went on to become one of the greatest African-American freedom fighters. He used his intellect to outsmart slavers and was a part of the Underground Railroad which worked to help fugitive enslaved Africans escape to the north and freedom. He was not anything like modern day Republicans. He was the searing conscious of America.

Black Talk Radio News & Views w/ Scotty Reid
covers national and global social/political news with a focus on the
Black community and how it is impacted by political and social policies.
The program sometimes features guests who are policy analyst, social
activist, politicians, public officials and journalists. Scotty Reid has produced and hosted over 1,000 episodes
of online radio since 2007. He currently hosts and produces Black Talk
Radio News & Views (2008) and Black Teen Empowerment Radio (2009).
When it comes to music, Scotty believes he has a great ear for independent
Hip-Hop and R&B music. He is always looking to feature new music
from those artists being ignored by the recording industry because they
remain true to their craft.

Mark Clements who is a torture victim of Jon Burge and on the Board of Directors of â??Campaign to End the Death Penaltyâ?? will be appearing on Black Talk Radio News and Views on January 26, 2011 at 9:00 PM EST to discuss the many issues surrounding torture and the Chicago Police. Also joining the broadcast will be Amanda Reed, the mother of still imprisoned alleged torture victim Gerald Reed and Bertha Escamilla whose son Nick Escamilla was released after 13 years under a no contest agreement with Illinois officials where he admitted no guilt or innocence. Some people in the social justice community feel that this was a maneuver to limit the financial or other liability by the State of Illinois for the alleged torture of Mr. Escamilla by Chicago Police officers.

Escamilla by Chicago Police officers.</itunes:summary>

We hear a lot of talk in the Black community about unity or the lack thereof. Despite the efforts of many great men like Marcus Garvey and Malcolm X, the level of unity among people of African descent is sorely lacking and many who preach it are not practicing it. Brother Moorbey of Black Unity joins the program tonight to discuss this explosive and sensitive topic. Are you one with brothers & sisters or are you practicing separation? Are there some things about them that you can not get past?

We are 49 days away from the 42nd NAACP Image Awards. How do I know? Because of the running clock ticking down the days, the hours and minutes till this annual party for rich, famous and politically connected Black people kicks off.

It is evident that the NAACP is out of touch with the average Black man, woman and child in America but that was already known by the masses and yet because the masses are so mislead by the media they consume, Iâ??m sure many of them will tune in and fantasize about being Black, rich and famous in America.

According to Wikipedia, a charlatan is â??(also called swindler or mountebank) is a person practicing quackery or some similar confidence trick in order to obtain money, fame or other advantages via some form of pretense or deception.â??

While the entire NAACP and its many autonomous chapters should not be condemned, its national leadership embodied by its leader and main mouthpiece Benjamin Jealous must be called out for his misrepresentation of the truth regarding the case of the Scott Sisters. The two sisters, Jamie and Gladys Scott have languished in a Mississippi prison plantation for nearly 17 years after being convicted of an armed robbery for which they had no part in, and sentenced to double life terms for eleven dollars. Governor Haley Barbour recently suspended their sentences but fell short of acknowledging the injustice done to the sisters and placed dubious conditions on their impending release.

If the content producers pay up, will they be putting the free nature of social media at risk and will other companies follow suit?
