The world will fundamentally change on Election Day - The Big Shoe talks to Joseph Carrabis for a preview and a review of political social media efforts and effects. Carrabis is Chairman and Chief Research Officer of NextStage Evolution, LLC, NextStage Global LTD, and a founder of KnowledgeNH, NH Business Development Network and the Center for Semantic Excellence. He's a Senior Research Fellow and Advisory Board Member to the Society for New Communications Research and frequent contributor to www.SoMeElection08.ning.com.

You've heard the pundits and the pollsters but what does Joseph's online predictive crystal ball tell about how close the election is (http://tinyurl.com/63hec9); how messages are being received and re-interpreted and if O.J. Simpson is really a factor - http://tinyurl.com/669kc8.

We'll catch up on Joseph's consulting business (http://www.nextstagevolution.com) and share best practices for marketers in the fields of predictive intelligence, persuasion engineering and interactive analytics.

The Really Big Shoe gets back in the marketing mix mindset this week. You simply cannot attend a marketing or social media event this season without a killer keynote from David Meerman Scott. Wait, you missed Inbound Marketing Summit (here's David with Bob Collins: http://www.utterli.com/u/utt/u-Nzk5OTY0MQ#utt-Nzk5OTY0MQ) or New Marketing Summit at Foxboro Stadium this week? Well, you must be Tweeting with David http://twitter.com/dmscott or sharing case studies for his next book "World Wide Rave"? OK, at least you justified you PR budget using "The New Rules of Marketing & PR"? Hmm ...

Really Big Show talks online art and social change. At the end of Ramadan and start of the Jewish New Year, we'll look at how art and advocacy work towards peace in the Middle East.
Photographer Rachel Feierman will share her images and audio project with Mohammed Farra "The Realists: Portraits & Interviews" http://www.artistascitizen.org/projects/3/#/intro/home as part of OneVoice Movement.

We'll talk about how http://www.artistascitizen.org blends art and journalism. The mission of "The Artist as Citizen" Web and offline program is to encourage art students towards pragmatic social engagement; asking them to confront issues that will directly impact American society and their own lives. The ultimate goal is to develop a grassroots network of students who think for themselves, use what they learn directly in their own work, and include it in discussion with friends and family.

OneVoice is an international movement of Americans, Palestinians, Israelis, Europeans, Muslims, Jews and Christians who are fed up with the ongoing conflict and who are ready and eager to support a serious process, leading to a comprehensive agreement that will fulfill the hopes and aspirations of both the Palestinian and the Israeli people for a two-state solution. More: http://www.onevoicemovement.org

We'll talk the role of art in social change; as Artist As Citizen says: "The challenge of our time is not to get people to think one way or another, but simply to get them to think."

Rescheduling this -- Is the press release alive or dead or is it in living purgatory? Tom Foremski of Silicon Valley Watcher http://www.siliconvalleywatcher.com has been sharing his opinions on its life signs and even more interesting topics for Silicon Valley Watcher (and previously FT). He is approachable by PR people (even out of work PR people) and is my go to source for innovation, privacy, funding and business model follies in tech. The Shoe is thrilled to talk to the Watcher. You will not be bored on this Shoe (well, except if I start pontificating).
By the way, Sam Whitmore is already providing an 8 min video if you don't have time for me ;) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OdFtXmIkqPs

Really Big Shoe has been enjoying an Internet radio vacation during typhoon season in Mass.
We're back with a cause that I've gotten behind - www.stophandgunviolence.org. The local nonprofit works to prevent firearm violence through public awareness and legislation - without banning guns. You might not know our guest, John Rosenthal, but if you've been on the Mass Pike near Fenway Park during the past eight years, you've seen the amazing 252 foot billboard for the cause.
We'll talk to John about his interest and history with the program, which organizations/folks help out (besides me) and try to get a teaser on what we'll see at the next unveiling on Aug. 19 at 10 a.m.

Calling Fashionistas and PR agency innovators - Today on the Big Shoe we borrow the important Project Runway question, "Are you in, or are you out?" Erin Crumpacker works for Jack + Bill, one of the hippest PR/communications firms in NYC - they are the "fashion forward" part of Porter Novelli. She will share a recent "Casting Call" event (http://www.jackandbillpr.com/casting.html) that is seeking the next big names in jewelry, clothing, modeling and styling.

So dress to impress (the Internet can see you) and read up at their blog: http://blog.jackandbillpr.com and then we'll try on some of the latest PR fashions at 2 p.m. ET today.

Who's the first PR blogger you ever read? Excluding my co-worker at the time. Todd Van Hoosear, I read Jeremy Pepper and Pop! PR Jots http://pop-pr.blogspot.com/. It was (and is) fresh, fun, well-written, but still was just a PR blog. My personal bias against blogs, sure, but I didn't truly enjoy and interact with Jeremy Pepper until we eat, drank and drank some more during a recent TweetUp (thanks @DougH) in Santa Monica. So the time has come for the truth and consequences to be revealed - Jeremy Pepper is going to be on the Shoe today! He is a F*^king rock star in PR. Shoe you soon - our community is calling!

This week we take to the world of Green. No, not the championship Celtics - the Shoe will discuss green building, services and products with Allison Friedman, co-founder & VP business development for Rate it Green (www.rateitgreen.com). We'll talk about the user-driven directory, rating resources and community hang-out for everyone interested in green building. We'll detour to "green washing," some myths in the product world (those expensive light bulbs have what?) and recall Allison's first quest for remodeling her home in an environmentally sensitive way. We may even ask for her favorite Chili recipes (yum).
So come on in from the rain and wind, give the solar panels a rest and join the Shoe.
Keeping it real Green, Adam (ThisDudeAbides) Zand

I had a blast at Blog Potomac http://www.blogpotomac.com/ in fabulous Falls Church, VA on Friday, June 13. One guy I wanted to speak with more was Shashi Bellamkonda, social media swami at Network Solutions in Herndon, VA. So today, through the power of TalkShoe, I get to catch up for his thoughts about the conference, what's up on his blogs www.shashi.name and www.solutionsarepower.com, his career path and how he used social media to create his job title at Network Solutions.
P.S. "Adam Zand's Really Big Shoe" is now available on iTunes for those living in The World of Steve Jobs. Check it, Booyakasha! ... http://phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewPodcast?id=282771596

<itunes:summary>I had a blast at Blog Potomac http://www.blogpotomac.com/ in fabulous Falls Church, VA on Friday, June 13.
Check it, Booyakasha! ... http://phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewPodcast?id=282771596</itunes:summary>

Really Big Shoe fans,
This week we take to the big frozen pond with Chris Botta, former VP of Communications for the New York Islanders. Chris and the team were responsible for implementing the innovative "Blog Box" program where rotating series of bloggers cover the team. We'll talk social media and sports, NHL innovations, get some gems from 20 years of team communications (maybe a Mike Milbury or John Tonelli story?) and even hear about a charity he supports, Smile Train. In the meantime, check out his current blog http://nyipointblank.blogspot.com/ and get your "skater relations" questions ready.
As always, check out http://www.talkshoe.com/tc/18410.
Old time hockey, Adam

Join the Really Big Shoe as we welcome Owen Mack of coBrandit.

Here's what Owen is most interested in these days:
-- live video: tools, platforms and strategies
-- the relationship between online and offline: events and video
-- integrating video with ad/mktg/pr programs: creating feedback loops
-- the continuing evolution of video advertising & pr: formats and techniques.

We'll also see if there is a business model for video on YouTube and its clones and if the independent content producers are about to get marginalized/shafted (again) by big brand media.
